There are a lot of things that I could say about myself. I have two dogs, I'm a Sophomore here at Ship, and my favorite color is blue. All of that seems really boring, so I think instead I'll tell a short story that shows my character.
About a year ago, my brother, James, his girlfriend, Anna, my best friend, Kim, and I decided to go hiking at Glen Onoko Falls in Jim Thorpe. This had only been the second time I was there and it was beautiful. There are three water falls that lead to a lake at the bottom and the scenery is amazing. There's a trail that leads to all three water falls, but instead we decided to climb up the middle which involves going up a serious of smaller waterfalls that lead to the bigger three. When you go up the middle you need to climb over sharp rocks and fallen trees, as well as, try not to slip as the water rushes by, drenching you on its way down to the lake.
James and Anna had climbed ahead and were already at the first big waterfall while Kim and I were about fifteen yards away from it. Kim had decided to go back to the trail on the side so it was then just me coming up the middle. I was trying to climb up this stack of rocks when I stepped on a log that was underwater and slipped. The water began to carry me down and over the rocks. It all happened so fast. the only thing I could hear was Kim screaming as I slid down to the sharp rocks below. I felt my knee scrape against a rock that was sticking out of the water and as I was carried by it I was able to grab the rock and get my balance back. After looking at the different paths ahead that led to the first waterfall I got up the courage to continue climbing until I reached the top. My arms and legs were covered with bruises but that event didn't stop me from reaching the top of the third waterfall.
So from this short story you could probably tell that I love hiking, I tend to get hurt, and I am able to continue doing something even when a problem comes alone to prevent it. What you can't tell is that I am deathly afraid of heights so that climbing up a few waterfalls really freaks me out, but it's something I enjoy so I might as well do it.
