Blog #5

I have been thinking if I would be able to give up everything and live in solitude in the middle of the woods for one year.  It would be very difficult and I would like to think I could do it, but in reality, I'm not sure if I would be able to do it.  Giving up technology is one thing. I think I would be able to do that because I like to spend time reading instead of just sitting on the computer.  I don't think that I would be able to give up interaction with other people though.  Interaction with others is one major thing that our society thrives on today.  I think it'd be very difficult for a lot of people to give up interaction but giving up technology is something that we are all able to do.

  1. I agree that most people would be able to give up technology fairly easy, but social interaction would not be as easy. I actually mentioned this in my blog as well. Our society is so focused on social interaction at any time of the day no matter how far away from them you are. So I do completely agree with you, lack of social interaction would be a challenge.

  2. I totally agree. I would not be able to give up social interaction either. That is part of socialization. If we isolate ourselves, would could lose so many human interaction skills, that we as humans may retrogress. Yes technology can always be given up, because if you ever had a problem with a laptop or a phone breaks, you had to wait to get it fix. So giving up technology is no problem.

  3. Not being able to talk to peoplee would drive me freakin' crazy! I would probaly do something like tom hanks did in castaway with Wilson... Anyway, I think thats good stuff that we are all able to draw a kind of line where we're able to drop technology but not completely isolate ourselves.
